What sort of boat is involved?

The boat is on a three year loan to us for missional activity.

We are responsible for maintaining her and also any changes or repairs that might be required to allow her to complete the voyages.

She is called ‘Rival Star’ and is a Rival 41AC sailing vessel previously used for charter. She has a very basic fit out, with 10 sea berths.

Rivals are well regarded vessels and are rated as one of the best vessels to cross an ocean in

 

She is fitted with AIS, Radar, Forward looking sonar, GPS, VHF and carries both electronic charts and paper.

There are basic washing facilities and cooking is via a Taylors paraffin cooker.

She carries a six man life raft and two tenders, one a folding F-Rib and the other a small light 4 person dingy which can take an outboard.

Safety equipment will be supplied as regard life jackets although experienced sailors should consider bringing their own.

Crew are responsible for bringing their own wet weather gear.
